Jams
CABOMA jams are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, from 2:00-6:00 pm, at Lyon Park Community Center in Arlington, VA. Anyone interested in CABOMA is welcome to come and visit a jam.
In the spring, summer, and fall, we can be found outside in the park and inside the community center. In the winter months and on inclimate days, the jam is held inside the community center at Lyon Park.
At most jams, you will find a wide range of skill levels, from beginners to professional musicians. We encourage participants to bring and play traditional, acoustic bluegrass and old-time music instruments.
Slow Jam
CABOMA hosts a slow jam, led by and experienced CABOMA member, from 2:00 - 3:00 on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month, during the regular jam. The slow jam is open to everyone, but is focused on those new to bluegrass and old-time music. The slow jam is also a good place to practice jamming while learning a new instrument.
The following are examples of song you might hear at the slow jam:
- Old Home Place
- Big Spike Hammer
- Dark Hollow
- Nine-Pound Hammer
- Roll in My Sweet Baby's Arms
Instrumentals:
- Red Haired Boy
- Whiskey Before Breakfast
- Angeline the Baker

CABOMA
The Capital Area Bluegrass and Old-time Music Association (CABOMA) is a non-profit corporation dedicated to preserving and promoting bluegrass and old-time music.
CABOMA is located in the Washington, D.C. area, and is supported by its members, whose sole purpose is to enjoy playing music. We have about 150 members. We play acoustic bluegrass, old-time, country, western swing, and a touch of the blues. Our primary interest is to provide a consistent place for our members to jam, twice-monthly, rain or shine.
CABOMA jams are held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of every month at Lyon Park in Arlington, VA.
